Weelll, the other day I heard this guy preaching on identity. It was really cool, and heaps easy to understand. He was saying how everyone has an identity... whether it's an identity in drugs, smoking, all that stuff, or being the cool kid at school or even the nerdy-type one... He was saying how, no matter who we are, we have an identity -- everyone does, even if it's not a good identity. And then he said that you might have even been labeled an identity.
He went on to say that we should have our identity in him. So that when people watch us with what we do, how we act, they can see God through us.... that we stand for him, and we are there to show his glory. It's like... when people want everyone to vote for this particular party or person or something, so they go around handing out little pages of stuff about it... they're for them, and they're letting everyone know. That's kind of like their identity in that person or party.
And then he talked about how these people in the bible, like, when Jesus was saying "Come follow me" to all these random people, and telling them that he would make then fishers of men and stuff... and they just put down their nets and followed him. They had an identity in something else, but they laid that down so they could instead have an identity in God... which, of course, we know -- is the better way to go.
I don't know, I just found that really interesting. Especially how people actually CAN get labeled as something! Like rumours or something going on in school... if that's happening to you maybe..:)
But yepp, I thought I'd share that with you,,so we can have our identity in God together:)
